The word of this week is "Mom". In fact, for all of us, this word means whole life. Still, mother's day is around and hence it is the time, when you can finally dedicate a day making her feel as special as she is. Most of the times, when it comes to gifts, it sometimes gets very hard deciding what to get her for Mothers' day.

It is difficult to buy her clothes, you may not be able to afford jewellery. Apart from that, there is nothing new in them. She might get bored of receiving same kind of gifts every now and then. Won't she?

1) The video dairies

Your mom and dad have surely taken enough video footage of your family when you were a kid. Birthday parties, holidays, random videos of silliness at home and embarrassing clips of you having a bath when you were 5! So, here is the trick; take all these videos and first of all get them converted to DVD's if you haven't done it already. Then download a simple editing software like Windows Movie Maker, Ulead etc and edit out special clips from the videos and make one for your mom. Get clips from your parents wedding, mommy pregnant with you and little memories of her helping you take your first step, feeding you etc. It will sure be something she'll always treasure.

2) Mom's night- out

When was the last time you and your mom went out for a girl's night out? Never right! Take her to some of the places you and your friends hang out. Believe it or not, but all mom's have a cooler side too! So, get her to dress up, take the car out and head out to a nice place for dinner. After that take her to some trendy lounges in town and have a drink or two (mocktails would also do!!). Let your mom forget all about her work and home responsibilities and let her hair down.

Buy your mom a cool touch screen cellphone, an 80 GB i-pod, a laptop or even a gaming console. You'll be surprised at how much she will love it and how addicted she'll get. (You need to tutor a bit at first, of course!). If you get her a Nintendo Wii then the two of you can play tennis together too! Buy her something that she'll never buy herself - that shows you really do care.

4) Gift your mom a vacation trip

We go out with our friends for trips all the time - don't you think your mom deserves a break from you too! Contact your mom's friends' kids and plan a surprise get away for your mom with her pals. Book the bus/train tickets, book a hotel room and organize a little sightseeing. Then on mother's day surprise her with the itinerary and even a packed bag and snacks for the journey. Just make sure she buys you a lot of presents from her trip!

5) A makeover

Your mom had been cribbing about how unstylish her clothes are, and how she really doesn't know what to wear. So, if you've been completely inconsiderate and mean and haven't taken her out shopping yet - then this is the day. Do some research on what she should wear that's trendy + age appropriate. Then find out what stores/designers cater to those needs. Now take mom out on Mothers Day and shop. Get her a couple of trendy outfits to wear for a lunch, formal dinner and also casually. Surprise her with a haircut appointment with some fabulous hair dresser and throw in a spa massage if you can too. You'll make mama darling feel all brand new.
